TSPO has a new album coming up…”Diamond in Your Heart”

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra have been a very busy band as of late. Between being the first Japanese band to play at the world famous Coachella Music Festival (both weekends), playing a couple of shows in Mexico, and playing to a huge crowd in New York City, the band found time to record a brand spanking new album in Los Angeles. Dave Hillyard’s upcoming album “California”


Dave Hillyard…you all know him right? You know, the rooting, tooting sax man for the Slackers? Dave grew up in California, and was playing in bands in California (including Hepcat) before he moved to New York and became the Slacker we all know and love today, and for years, he’s been writing songs about his journey. Well, now he’s finally recording those songs and putting it into a new, solo album.

The album is called California, and will be, in Dave’s own words, “about different events in my past for a long time now.” Continue reading

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra dates in North America (5 Dates)


This week, after a nine year absence, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra return to the United States, performing at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California, this weekend and next.

I was hoping that TSPO would turn the Coachella dates into a full blown North American tour, but unfortunately, this isn’t happening this year. Still, some TSPO is better than no TSPO, and I’m lucky to be able to attend one of the Coachella dates this year to see my very favorite band, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra.  Continue reading

RIP Harry Johnson AKA The Liquidator

The Jamaica Observer is reporting that producer Harry Zephaniah Johnson, commonly known as Harry J., passed away yesterday at the age of 68.

Harry J produced some pretty big hits in the 60s, including the skinhead favorite, “Liquidator.”

Keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
